BAD BOYS FOR LIFE Will Be Directed By Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah
It looks like Sony Pictures has found a directing duo to replace Joe Carnahan in the director's chair for Will Smith and Martin Lawrence's Bad Boys For Life. According to Deadline, Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah are in talks to direct the Jerry Bruckheimer-produced film.
I'm not familiar with these directors, but they are a Moroccan-born duo "who were raised in Belgium and who burst onto the scene with Black, a Romeo & Juliet-type drama set in the world of organized crime in Belgium." They most recently directed the FX series Snowfall, and they are attached to a few other upcoming movies including Beverly Hills Cop 4.
The most recent draft of the script was by Chris Bremmer and the plan is to start production in August. I have no idea if these two directors are right for the film or not, but it would've been cool to have Michael Bay come back to direct it.
It's good to see that this project is moving forward. At one point Martin Lawrence said that he didn't think the movie was going to happen. Obviously the studio is very keen on getting this film into production.
