BAD BOYS TV Series Spinoff Starring Gabrielle Union In The Works

We may not have any movement on Bad Boys 3, but now Deadline Hollywood is reporting that the Bad Boys are getting a spinoff TV series centered on the character Syd, who was introduced in the second film and played by Gabrielle Union.

Union will reprise her role as Special Agent Sydney “Syd” Burnett who is the sister of Martin Lawrence's character, Detective Lieutenant Marcus Burnett, who was romantically involved with Detective Lieutenant Mike Lowrey (Will Smith). She is an undercover operative with the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA).

The untitled project is currently being pitched to TV networks, and is already getting strong interest from several places and is expected to land a major deal. 

The untitled Bad Boys spinoff is being written by The Blacklist writers-producers Brandon Margolis and Brandon Sonnier. Jerry Bruckheimer and Doug Belgra are producing.

According to the report, the idea for the Bad Boys offshoot came from Primary Wave Entertainment, which manages the actress. What do you think about the concept of this character getting her own spinoff series?
