BAD DAY AT THE OFFICE Teaser Unleashes a Wild First-Person POV Action Rampage
Getting chased across London by killers is already a pretty terrible day. Doing it with no memory, a corpse in your bathtub, cops at the door, and apparently enough forgotten combat skills to turn the city into a first-person shooter sounds considerably worse.
Action Xtreme has released the first teaser trailer for Bad Day at the Office, a first-person POV action thriller from Chee Keong Cheung, and this thing looks totally bonkers.
It’s been a while since we’ve had a movie fully embrace this kind of POV action filmmaking, and the teaser throws audiences straight into the chaos with gunfights, brutal brawls, samurai swords, and even a fight aboard the London Tube.
The story follows Karl, played by John Hannah, who wakes up in a completely wrecked hotel room with a vicious headache and absolutely no idea what happened. He doesn’t know where he is, what he’s been doing, or even who he is.
Things get considerably more complicated when Karl finds a dead body in his bathtub. Then the police show up at his hotel room.
Karl ends up on the run with hotel maid Molly, played by Radha Mitchell, as the pair attempt to piece together his missing memories while being dragged deeper into a conspiracy. There’s a price on Karl’s head, seemingly half the city wants him dead, and survival requires him to tap into a collection of skills he doesn’t remember having.
Rather than watching Karl slowly figure out what kind of dangerous dude he used to be, the audience gets planted directly into his perspective while he discovers those abilities for himself.
The movie was filmed entirely from a first-person POV, primarily using GoPro cameras, giving the action the look and energy of an FPS video game brought to life. From what’s packed into this first teaser, Cheung and his team appear determined to see just how much mayhem they can squeeze out of that concept.
The Edinburgh International Film Festival offered a description of what you can expect: "Shot in the style of first-person shooter video games with cine-literate wit, humor, ferocious pacing and a cracking soundtrack, this is an anarchic, ultra-violent, hilarious thrill ride of pure, cinematic carnage. The ultimate Midnight Madness experience."
It looks like exactly the kind of movie you want to experience with a late-night festival crowd. The first-person filmmaking immediately brings an extra level of insanity to the fights. The teaser includes a brawl on the London Tube along with some samurai sword action, showing the filmmakers had plenty of fun dreaming up increasingly ridiculous situations to throw Karl into.
Alongside Hannah and Mitchell, the cast includes Tamer Hassan, Lana Parrilla, Tim Fellingham, Roxanne McKee, Branko Tomović, and Victor Gardener.
First-person action movies are still rare enough that it’s fun to see another filmmaker take a swing at the format, especially when the goal appears to be pure cinematic carnage.
Bad Day at the Office will premiere as one of the Midnight selections at the 2026 Edinburgh International Film Festival this month. Action Xtreme will then release the movie in UK cinemas on October 30th, 2026.
