Barb's Memory Will Be a Big Part of STRANGER THINGS Season 2
We are all super hyped for season two of Stranger Things after that great Super Bowl teaser (Confession: I honestly thought it was going to be an Eggo waffle commercial when it started), but we have months and months to wait until we can call in sick and binge watch the whole thing, so we should probably pace ourselves a bit. Today we don’t have anything like new footage, what we have is another promise that anyone on the show gives a damn about Barb, the surprise fan-favorite character who was (SPOILER!) murdered by the demogorgon, a fact that no one in the fictional town of Hawkins, Indiana seemed to care about at all.
Creators The Duffer Brothers promised awhile back that we would see “Justice for Barb” in season two, and now executive producer Shawn Levy has reiterated that promise, telling Variety that although the character is definitely dead (apparently some fans were hoping for a resurrection?), "Her memory, and the search for justice for her, is a big part of season two." Variety posted a brief video on Twitter:
Well, for Barb’s sake, I hope that is true. She never did anything but try to be a good friend to Nancy, who left her bleeding alone in the cold (literally!) so that she could hook up with that wanker Steve. And then, even though a second disappearance in like two days should have tipped them off to some sort of a pattern, everyone decided there was really no need to look into her absence. It was quite annoying to fans, especially my husband, who had to put up with me constantly yelling, “Why does everybody act like they forgot about Barb?”
Season two of Stranger Things will be a much more peaceful viewing experience for him. It drops on Netflix on Halloween.
