Barry Keoghan to Reprise His TOP BOY Role in 5-Part Netflix Prequel Series JONNY BOY
Oscar nominee Barry Keoghan (Eternals, Saltburn) is returning to the world created in Netflix’s series Top Boy. The actor will reprise his role as Jonny McGee for a five-part prequel series at the streamer, which will be written by Top Boy creator Ronan Bennett.
McGee was an antagonist in Season 5 of Top Boy, a high-ranking member of the Irish mob who distributed drugs in London for his uncle, Tadgh McGee.
Keoghan and business partner Des Byrne said of the project, “We pitched our vision and idea to Netflix and the executive producers and they were so supportive in wanting to bring our passion project forward, exploring Jonny McGee’s origin story through a new bold lens.”
Jonny Boy is not the only expansion of the Top Boy universe. Netflix has also greenlit Jaq (working title), a series that will focus on BAFTA-winner Jasmine Jobson’s character. Ryan Calais Cameron is the writer and creator.
Are you looking forward to returning to this world and these characters? Stay tuned for updates on the projects.
