Barry Pepper Joins Taylor Sheridan's BASS REEVES Western Series
Barry Pepper has landed a role in Taylor Sheridan’s upcoming Paramount+ western series Bass Reeves, another Yellowstone spinoff series that is set prior to the events of 1883. Pepper joins the previously cast David Oyelowo and Dennis Quaid, and he will be a series regular.
Oyelowo plays the legendary Wild West lawman. Quaid will play Sherrill Lynn, a Deputy U.S. Marshall. And Pepper will play Esau Pierce, “the leader of the 1st Cherokee Mounted Rifles and a battle-tested warrior himself.”
The official description reads: “Reeves was known as the greatest frontier hero in American history and also believed to be the inspiration for ‘The Lone Ranger.’ He worked in the post-Reconstruction era as a federal peace officer in the Indian Territory, capturing over 3,000 of the most dangerous criminals without ever being wounded.”
It’s great to see Pepper land a role in this series! I’ve been a long-time fan of his, ever since he appeared in films such as Saving Private Ryan and The Green Mile. Over the years he’s also appeared in 61*, Flags of Our Fathers, 25th Hour, We Were Soldiers, The Kennedys, and Crawl.
Bass Reeves is currently filming in Texas.
