BATMAN V SUPERMAN Actor Scoot McNairy Joins FARGO Season 3
Hot on the heels of last Friday's news that 10 Cloverfield Lane star Mary Elizabeth Winstead has joined the cast of FX's spectacular crime series Fargo for the show's third season, we have another addition to the already-stacked group of actors. TV Line spoke with Fargo creator/showrunner Noah Hawley last night during the Emmy's, and he revealed that Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice actor Scoot McNairy has come on board for the third season.
While it was revealed that he'd have a recurring role, the outlet wasn't able to confirm any information about who he'd be playing in the show.
The third season takes place sometime around 2008 or 2010 and will take on the rise of selfie culture. At this point, it's still unclear exactly if or how it will tie back in to the events of the previous two seasons. Ewan McGregor will star in dual roles as twin brothers Emmit and Ray Stussy; Emmit's a successful businessman known as the Parking Lot King of Minnesota, while pot-bellied Ray is a down-on-his-luck parole officer who blames his brother for his lot in life. Carrie Coon (The Leftovers) plays the chief of the Eden Valley police, and Winstead will play Nikki Swango, a “crafty and alluring recent parolee with a passion for competitive bridge playing."
Most will instantly know McNairy as the wheelchair-bound man from BVS, but he's built up an extremely impressive resume over the past ten years in movies like Monsters, Argo, 12 Years a Slave, Frank, and Gone Girl. He's also starring on AMC's Halt and Catch Fire. McNairy is slowly proving himself to be one of the best character actors around these days, and I'm excited to see him mix it up with the rest of these talented players in the new season of Fargo. Filming is supposed to begin later this year and season 3 is slated to arrive on FX sometime in 2017.
