BATWOMAN Actress Ruby Rose Has Been Bullied Off Twitter

TV BatwomanRuby Rose by Joey Paur

Another celebrity has been bullied off of Twitter. Ruby Rose, who was recently cast to star in the upcoming Batwoman series, has deleted her Twitter account and disabled the comments on her Instagram posts.

She's expressed so much excitement about being able to play Batwoman, saying:

"I am beyond thrilled and honored. I’m also an emotional wreck, because this is a childhood dream. This is something I would have died to have seen on TV when I was a young member of the LGBT community who never felt represented on tv and felt alone and different."

What's interesting about this whole thing is that she was apparently being bullied by some members of the LGBT community. They apparently had a problem with the "false" perception that Rose hadn't publicly identified as lesbian. Before Rose disabled her Twitter account, she posted the following:

“Where on earth did ‘Ruby is not a lesbian therefore she can’t be batwoman’ come from — has to be the funniest most ridiculous thing I’ve ever read. I came out at 12? And have for the past 5 years had to deal with ‘she’s too gay’ how do y’all flip it like that? I didn’t change. I wish we would all support each other and our journeys.”

“When women and when minorities join forces we are unstoppable… when we tear each other down it’s much more hurtful than from any group. But hey/ love a challenge I just wish women and the LGBT community supported each other more, My wish was we were all a little kinder and more supportive of each other…Sending everyone my love and gratitude, it’s been a rollercoaster of a year, this month especially.”

"I am looking forward to getting more than 4 hours of sleep and to break from Twitter to focus all my energy on my next 2 projects. If you need me, I’ll be on my Bat Phone.”

The CW and DC wanted to cast someone from the LGBT community in the role of Batwoman, they found a solid actress to fill the role to represent the community, and now some members of that community are bullying her. I imagine that has got to be hard on her.

All I know is that bullying is wrong in any form. No one should be bullied like this, but that is one of the sad things that social media is bringing into the world... a growing number of bullies.

Ruby Rose will make her debut as Batwoman in the upcoming DC crossover DC event series. That will then lead into a solo series that is being written and produced by Caroline Dries who has worked on series such as The Vampire Diaries and Melrose Place. She was also a writer on Smallville

In the series, Kate Kane, armed with a passion for social justice and a flair for speaking her mind, soars onto the streets of Gotham as Batwoman, an out lesbian and highly trained street fighter primed to snuff out the failing city’s criminal resurgence. But don’t call her a hero yet. In a city desperate for a savior, Kate must overcome her own demons before embracing the call to be Gotham’s symbol of hope.

If the show gets picked up, it would premiere during the 2019-2020 season. Greg Berlanti will also be an executive producer on the series alongside Geoff Johns.
