Batwoman Will Be Introduced in an Upcoming Arrowverse Crossover!

Arrow star Stephen Amell made a pretty big announcement at The CW's recent Upfronts presentation. He revealed that Batwoman will be introduced into the DC TV Universe in an upcoming Arrowverse crossover!

He didn't offer any information on how Batwoman would be utilized in the story, but it was hinted that Gotham City will make its first appearance in the Arrowverse. The CW president Mark Pedowitz went on to say:

"This is the first time ever that she [Batwoman] will make a live-action appearance on any screen."

This is a pretty cool piece of news and one that was completely unexpected. Batwoman was first to DC Comics in 1956. The current version of the character is Kate Kane, who is DC's first openly lesbian superheroes.

After being dismissed from the military for being a lesbian, Kate Kane lived a directionless party-girl heiress life until, on a dark night, a chance encounter with Batman inspired her to find a new calling in life, later adopting the mantle of Batwoman.

It'll be interesting to see how the character is utilized in the upcoming Arrowverse crossover. I imagine if the fans like what they do with the character, she might eventually get her own series!

Are you excited to learn that Batwoman is comeing to the Arrowverse?
