Beamdog Announces 80s-Tastic MYTHFORCE Game Hitting Early Access Next Week

Beamdog is well known for hit games like Baldur’s Gate and Planescape: Torment. Today, they’re announcing their latest title called MythForce. This is the team’s first original title and is inspired by 80s cartoons. You can check out the intro below and it is amazing! The game is a first-person roguelite adventure with lots of color for you to enjoy. Aspyr Media is publishing MythForce which will release on April 20 via Early Access exclusively on Epic Games Store for PC. The game will cost $29.99 and you can wishlist it now.

Inspired by beloved 80s cartoons, MythForce unites colorful swords & sorcery with gripping first-person combat in a roguelite adventure.

Heroes level-up as they explore the dungeon, unlocking different perks for each playthrough, as well as special rank upgrades that carry over to new sessions. Procedurally-generated maps with randomized encounters and loot keep each playthrough fresh. In true roguelite fashion, each time players are defeated they have to start over at the beginning, but every playthrough makes them a little stronger.

When MythForce launches on April 20, the first episode, Bastion of the Beastlord will be playable with additional episodes and other updates releasing while in Early Access with input from community members helping to guide them. Players will be able to choose from four playable heroes and play with up to 3 of their friends in online co-op. Sharing his excitement for Mythforce, Beamdog CEO Trent Oster said:

I’m beyond excited to finally show off our team’s original work. MythForce is pure, unadulterated fun— right out of the Saturday mornings of my childhood. With a simple yet satisfying game loop, it’s a big departure from the RPG classics we’re known for, but the Beamdog DNA is evident if you know where to look.

MythForce is a feel-good game that speaks to the kid in us. In Early Access we want to collaborate with players who are excited by our wholesome, 80s vision for MythForce, and build up the best game possible. Community will be key to getting us to 1.0.
