The first trailer has been released for Guillermo Del Toro's new film The Shape of Water and it looks absolutely wonderful. This is a dark other-worldly fairy tale story set against the backdrop of Cold War era America in 1963. It looks like an absolutely beautiful film with wonderfully stunning visuals and it seems like it tells a fantastic story.
In the hidden high-security government laboratory where she works, lonely Elisa (Sally Hawkins) is trapped in a life of silence and isolation. Elisa’s life is changed forever when she and co-worker Zelda (Octavia Spencer) discover a secret classified experiment.
Everything I've heard about this film up until this point has piqued my curiosity and got me excited. Now with this trailer, we have a much better understanding of what Del Toro's vision for the story is and I can't wait to see it!
Rounding out the cast are Michael Shannon, Richard Jenkins, Michael Stuhlbarg and Doug Jones. The movie will be released in theaters on December 8th.
