Disney unveiled the first teaser trailer for their live-action remake of The Little Mermaid today at D23! It features some of the beautiful underwater visuals, including the sunken ship, and our first look at Ariel (Halle Bailey), followed by her fish friend, Flounder, who will be voiced by Jacob Trembley.

The rest of the cast includes Daveed Diggs as Sebastian, Melissa McCarthy as Ursula, Javier Bardem as King Triton, and Jonah Hauer-King as Prince Eric.

The Little Mermaid is directed by Rob Marshall (Mary Poppins Returns), with a script from David Magee and Jane Goldman. The film is expected to feature original songs from the 1989 animated blockbuster, as well as new tracks composed by Alan Menken and Diggs' Hamilton co-star Lin-Manuel Miranda.

We get to hear a little bit of Ariel singing “Part of Your World,” and it really gets me excited for the full movie. Check it out below, and get ready to watch The Little Mermaid in theatres on May 26, 2023.
