Beautiful Teaser Trailer for the Anime Film SUZUME NO TOJIMARI From the Director of YOUR NAME
Makoto Shinkai, the director of hit anime films Your Name and Weathering with You, is developing a new film titled Suzume no Tojimari, and the teaser trailer for the film has just dropped. The movie looks absolutely beautiful and it looks like it’s going to be filled with incredible art and visuals. I love Shinkai’s anime filmmaking style, and he also has a talent for great storytelling.
The movie, which has not been given an English title yet, follows “17-year-old Suzume's journey begins in a quiet town in Kyushu when she encounters a young man who tells her, ‘I'm looking for a door.’ What Suzume finds is a single weathered door standing upright in the midst of ruins as though it was shielded from whatever catastrophe struck. Seemingly mesmerized by its power, Suzume reaches for the knob...”
It’s explained, “Doors begin to open one after another all across Japan, unleashing destruction upon any who are near. Suzume must close these portals to prevent further disaster.”
What happens after that? Well, we’ll just have to wait and see! One thing is for sure, this movie is going to take fans on a mysterious and fantastical adventure. The writer and director has said that the film is "a story about closure." Shinkai said:
“We must think about how to close the many doors we left open. I've bestowed that responsibility upon Suzume as she travels across Japan closing various doors. It is my sincere hope that this film leaves its audiences with big smiles and excitement as they walk out of the theater.”
The film comes from the animation studio CoMix Wave Films and Toho Co., Ltd. is the film's distributor. Suzume no Tojimari hits theaters in Japan on November 11, 2022. I’ve also included a poster that was released. I can’t wait to watch this!
