Beautiful Trailer and Poster for Chloe Zhao's NOMADLAND Starring Frances McDormand
The full trailer has been released for director Chloe Zhao’s upcoming film, Nomadland. Zhao has focused in the past on stories that feature the United States as practically another character within the sprawling backdrop of her films. Nomadland is no different, as it tells the story of Fern, an American nomad who travels the states in her van, looking for work when she needs it and connections where she left them. The film also stars real nomads Linda May, Swankie, and Bob Wells.
Zhao adapted the screenplay for the film, based on the novel by Jessica Bruder. The synopsis reads: “Following the economic collapse of a company town in rural Nevada, Fern (Frances McDormand) packs her van and sets off on the road exploring a life outside of conventional society as a modern-day nomad.”
After opening earlier this year at the Venice Film Festival and Toronto Film Festivals, where it won the Golden Lion Award, the film has a lot of Oscar buzz surrounding it, and I can’t wait to see it. Check out the trailer and poster below, and watch Nomadland in select US theaters starting on February 19th, 2021.
