Beautiful Trailer for Robert Downey Jr.'s Netflix Documentary "SR." About His Father

A beautifully moving trailer has been released for the Netflix documentary Sr., which Robert Downey Jr. made about his father, Robert Downey Sr., who passed away in July of 2021 at the age of 85. Robert Downey was a minor-league baseball player, a Golden Gloves champion, an off-off Broadway playwright, a TV, movie and documentary filmmaker, and actor.

The project was directed by Chris Smith (Jim & Andy: The Great Beyond, Bad Vegan), and it features appearances by friends in the business, Norman Lear, Paul Thomas Anderson, and Alan Arkin, among others.

Here’s the synopsis:

“Follow the tender but appropriately irreverent account of the life and career of Robert Downey Sr., the fearless and visionary American director who set the standard for countercultural comedy in the 1960s and 1970s.”

This looks like a tender look at the life and career of Robert Downey, the relationships he had, and the legacy he left. Check out the trailer and poster below, and watch Sr. in theaters on November 17th and on Netflix on December 2nd.
