A new trailer has been released for Robin Wright’s feature directorial debut film, Land. The movie is set against a beautiful, isolated mountain backdrop, and stars Wright in the lead role. She is joined in the small cast by Warren Christie (Alphas, Chicago Fire), Demián Bichir (The Hateful Eight), Brad Leland (Friday Night Lights), and Kim Dickens (Deadwood, Gone Girl). The script for the film was written by Jesse Chatham and Erin Dignam.

Here’s the synopsis:

From acclaimed actress Robin Wright comes her directorial debut Land, the poignant story of one woman’s search for meaning in the vast and harsh American wilderness. Edee (Wright), in the aftermath of an unfathomable event, finds herself unable to stay connected to the world she once knew and in the face of that uncertainty, retreats to the magnificent, but unforgiving, wilds of the Rockies. After a local hunter (Demián Bichir) brings her back from the brink of death, she must find a way to live again.

The trailer teases that Wright’s character Edee has been through a terrible trauma, and she is fighting the intense emptiness left in her life. This looks like a beautiful and heartbreaking film, and like we will see another award-worthy performance from Wright. Check out the trailer below, and watch Land after its Sundance premiere, in theatres on February 12th.
