Beautiful Art From the Original 1977 Animated Adaptation of THE HOBBIT

When I was a kid, the first time I ever watched the original 1977 animated adaptation of J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Hobbit, I was in awe. I loved that movie! The story, the animation, and art style has stuck with me since I saw it. It is just such a beautifully animated film. We don’t see movies like that get made anymore.

Anyway, I recently came across this collection of art that was created for the movie, and I know you’ll all appreciate it. When I saw the art a wave of nostalgia washed over me. I haven’t seen this movie in years, and I think I need to revisit it.

The movie was a Japanese-American animated production created by Rankin/Bass and animated by Topcraft, a precursor to Studio Ghibli.

Below the art, I also shared the trailer for the film!

A wondrous animated version of J.R.R. Tolkein's classic about the magical world of Middle Earth and the adventures of lovable Bilbo Baggins.
