Behind-the-Scenes Look at HBO's Adaptation of Stephen King's Dark Detective Thriller THE OUTSIDER
HBO has released a new featurette for its fantastic-looking adaption of Stephen King’s dark and disturbing detective tale The Outsider. The video offers us a behind-the-scenes look at the series and includes an interview with King and a few other members of the cast and creative team talking about the supernatural story and the characters who fill it. They explain that the story is a struggle between faith and reason, and it explores how a person copes with the unbelievable.
The story follows police detective Ralph Anderson (Ben Mendelsohn), “as he sets out to investigate the mutilated body of 11-year-old Frankie Peterson found in the Georgia woods. The mysterious circumstances surrounding this horrifying crime leads Ralph, still grieving the recent death of his own son, to bring in unorthodox private investigator Holly Gibney (Erivo), whose uncanny abilities he hopes will help explain the unexplainable.” While this is going on, another man (Bateman) is arrested for the murder, and he claims he’s innocent.
The Outsider has an incredible cast of actors that also includes Jason Bateman, Cynthia Erivo, Bill Camp, Mare Winningham, Paddy Considine, Julianne Nicholson, Yul Vázquez, Jeremy Bobb, and Marc Menchaca.
The Outsider premieres on HBO on January 12th, 2020. This is a great story, and I’m excited that it’s being brought to life.
