Behind the Scenes Photo of the Upcoming Avatar Sequel Features James Cameron Amidst a Firy Set Holding a 3D Camera

Filming began last week for the long-awaited Avatar sequels, 2 and 3. While on set this week, producer Jon Landau snapped a photo of director James Cameron wielding his 3D camera amidst knee high waves from a wave machine, alongside a wall of fire. The photo was posted to the Avatar twitter page, where they say you should follow @JonLandau for other updates.

The cast returning from the original film includes Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana, Joel David Moore, Dileep Rao, Stephen Lang, Matt Gerald and Sigourney Weaver, with new cast members Kate Winslet, Edie Falco, Michelle Yeoh, Vin Diesel, Jemaine Clement, and Oona Chaplin.

Avatar 2 is slated to hit theatres on December 17, 2021, a year later than originally announced, and we are set to be getting sequels every two years after that through 2027, which will culminate with Avatar 5. Check out the photo below, and let us know if you’re excited for the continuation of the Avatar stories.
