BELOW Trailer Pitts Josh Hartnett Against a Terrifying Sea Creature in Netflix’s New Drama Series

If you're a fan of small-town mysteries, monster stories, and family-driven drama, Netflix's upcoming limited series Below looks like it could be a great mix of all three.

The streaming service has released the first trailer, and it teases an eerie coastal thriller where an isolated Newfoundland community finds itself under attack by something lurking beneath the waves.

At the center of the story is Josh Hartnett, who stars as Calvin Penney, a kind-hearted but stubborn fisherman still carrying the emotional weight of his father's mysterious death years earlier.

Life in his tight-knit hometown is already complicated enough, but things take a terrifying turn when an unknown sea creature begins terrorizing the people who live there.

As the danger grows, Calvin finds himself trying to hold his community together while protecting the people he loves most, including his son Wade, played by Charlie Heaton.

To stand a chance against the mysterious threat, Calvin joins forces with visiting marine researcher Fonda Howander, played by Mackenzie Davis. Together, they'll have to uncover long-buried secrets tied to the island before the creature claims more victims.

The trailer leans into the isolation of Newfoundland's rugged coastline, creating an unsettling atmosphere that makes the creature's presence feel even more threatening.

While the monster remains mostly hidden, the glimpses we do get are enough to promise some suspenseful moments, with the story appearing to focus just as much on the people fighting for survival as the creature hunting them.

The cast also includes Ruby Stokes as Mary Penney, Kaleb Horn as Noah, Rohan Campbell as Jay Penney, and Willow Kean as Ruth Penney.

Created by Jesse McKeown, the six-episode limited series blends family drama with mystery, local folklore, suspense, and even a touch of humor.

Netflix hasn't shown all of its cards yet, but this first look does a great job setting the stage for a series that mixes emotional storytelling with supernatural thrills.

If you're into stories where ordinary people are forced to confront extraordinary horrors while uncovering long-hidden secrets, Below is definitely one to keep on your radar.
