Ben Affleck is Set To Star in a Tornado Drama Called FALLING TO EARTH

Ben Affleck is set to star in a new film called Falling to Earth, which is an adaptation of a novel written by Kate Southwood. The story is based on the 1925 Tri-State Tornado, which is said to be the deadliest tornado in U.S. history.

The story is set in Marah, IL, which is completely leveled. “Hundreds are dead, injured or homeless and all structures and homes are destroyed with one exception — Paul Graves and his family — who end the day with everything they had at the beginning, their home, business and children.”

Affleck plays Paul Graves in the film and the story follows him and his family “in the days and months that follow as they come to terms with their fate and the stark contrast of their neighbors.”

"They watch helplessly as Marah tries to resurrect itself from the ruins and as their friends and neighbors begin to wonder, then resent, how one family, and only one, could be exempt from terrible misfortune. As the town begins to recover, the family miscalculates the growing hostility around them with tragic results."

That sounds like a fascinating story. I’m not familiar with it but I’m really curious to see how the whole thing plays out. This is going to be another great project for Affleck to take on and I’m sure he’ll deliver a solid performance.

The project is in development at Bron Studios and Affleck is also attached to produce with Pearl Street Films partner Matt Damon. The script is being written by Eagle Eye co-scribe Hillary Seitz. There’s no director attached, but maybe Affleck will step into that role.
