Ben Affleck Is Still Looking to Make a Sequel to THE ACCOUNTANT

Ben Affleck and director Gavin O’Connor’s action-thriller The Accountant was such a great movie! Shortly after it was released, there was talk of a sequel, and I’ve been wondering if there has actually been any movement on that. I’d like to see the story of Affleck’s character, Christian Wolff, explored more.

While there hasn’t been much movement on a sequel, Affleck is still interested in pursuing it. While talking to Collider, the actor was asked about the project and this is what he said:

“Yeah, I hope so. I would love to. We’ve talked about kicking some ideas around, this last movie we just did. We talked to the studio and they seemed interested, and they kind of brought it up so, we’re looking to do that. I think it would be fun. I love Gavin, I love the movie I just did with him. I had a great experience and I love the character in The Accountant. I’d certainly be open to it.”

The last film project that the actor is referring to is Torrance, which completed shooting last year. Torrance is a sports drama about a former basketball player trying to get his life back together who starts coaching at his old high school. The project is set up at Warner Bros. and it’s good to hear that the studio is still interested in making a sequel to The Accountant as well!

The Accountant was a perfect project for Affleck, and he was such a great and unexpected fit for the fascinating lead character. He is an accountant with high-functioning autism who also happens to be an assassin. There are so many great stories that could be told for this character and when previously asked where he would like to see the sequel go, Affleck shared a potential story idea:

“In the second one, if we're ever fortunate to do it, I keep having this idea of a Catcher in the Rye kind of thing. He's surrounded by children, dealing with slavery and these kids that are sex slaves and things like that... If there's a way to deal with that subject matter and him saving children, that's something I'd be really interested in doing.”

That seems like it be a pretty heavy concept for a sequel, but it’s a story I would like to see brought to life! What do you think of this idea? Do you have any other sequel story ideas you’d like to see for the character?
