Ben Schwartz Got to Write Some of C-3PO's Jokes for STAR WARS: THE RISE OF SKYWALKER

Actor and comedian Ben Schwartz, best known for his roles in Parks and Recreation and Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live! this week promoting his upcoming film, Sonic the Hedgehog. After some lighthearted banter about who exactly will be showing up to watch Sonic the Hedgehog on Valentine’s Day, the day it’s released, Schwartz revealed a cool tidbit about a book he is featured in.

Anthony Daniels, the wonderful actor who has played C-3PO in the Star Wars film franchise wrote a book recently titled I am C-3PO - The Inside Story with a foreword by J.J. Abrams. In the intro, Abrams included a picture of himself and Daniels on set of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. Schwartz showed the book, and asked the camera man to zoom in many times to reveal that the fuzzy figure in the background of the photo is Ben Schwartz!

He explained that Abrams had invited him to set for the day, and he got to hang out and actually write some of the jokes for C-3PO that were used in the film. One in particular was when Rey, Po, Finn, Chewbacca, BB-8, and C-3PO were on Pasaana, and they sunk in the sand pit. When they came through the other side, and were asking if everyone was okay, C-3PO said, “No one asked me, but I’m okay!” That was a hilarious scene. What an incredible experience! You can tell Schwartz is a huge fan, so it’s awesome that he got that experience.
