Ben Stiller Says He Has Two Ideas For Spinoffs From Apple TV+ Series SEVERANCE

Ben Stiller is best known for his work as an actor, but the last few years, he has had success behind the camera as director of the fan favorite series Severance.

Viewers were anxious to see the return of the show, which aired its second season at the beginning of this year, after nearly a three-year wait. We can’t wait to see what happens next, but in the meantime, Stiller has a few interesting ideas about the future of the show.

In a recent interview with Variety, Stiller and the show’s star, Adam Scott, sat down to chat about the series, and when asked if he saw Severance as a franchise with spinoff shows, Stiller responded, saying, “There are two specific ideas — that I won’t tell you — that we’ve talked about internally as possible spinoff ideas.”

When asked what stage of development the spinoff ideas are in, or whether they have been discussed with Apple, all Stiller says, with a coy smile, is, “They are nascent.”

As for other extensions of the show, Stiller says it’d “be great to have a ‘Severance’ video game.” Scott agrees: “I think it lends itself to one.” And, at some point, they want to make merchandise like Lumon keyboards, as long as it feels “bespoke and specific to the show.”

It’s hard to get excited about spinoffs that we don’t know anything about, but what I do know is they’d only get to the phase of actually getting made if they were really good, so if they happen, I’d be excited. I am more excited, however, about the idea of a Severance video game.

The layout of Lumon Industries makes me immediately think about a little 8-bit member of the MDR team, walking through the white hallways, learning the maze-like intricacies, exploring other departments, and getting to the bottom of Lumon’s deep. dark secrets. I’d play it!

What do you think? If they made a Severance spinoff or two, which characters would you like to see them focus on? A Kier-based prequel would be intriguing. And would you play a Severance video game? Sound off below.
