Skyfall director Sam Mendes has been developing his next film project, which is a World War I drama called 1917 and the cast for he film has just been announced. That impressive cast includes Benedict Cumberbatch (Doctor Strange), Colin Firth (Kingsman), Mark Strong (Shazam!), Andrew Scott (Sherlock), and Richard Madden (Game of Thrones).

The film follows two young British soldiers on a single day at the height of World War I. Those two soldiers will be played by George MacKay (Captain Fantastic) and Dean-Charles Chapman (Game of Thrones).

The movie is being produced by DreamWorks Pictures and Universal Pictures and the plan is to release it in a limited number of theaters on December 25th and then expand it on January 10th, 2020. Steven Spielberg is also producing the film through his Amblin Entertainment.

As someone who enjoys watching war dramas, I’m very much looking forward to seeing 1917. We don’t really get a lot of films set during WWI and with Mendes at the helm, I’m sure the film will deliver something special.
