BIG BANG THEORY Star Johnny Galecki Jumps on Board NBC Esports Comedy THE SQUAD
NBC is jumping into the world of esports with a new series they are producing called The Squad. This is a multicamera comedy being written by Big Bang Theory writer Anthony Del Broccolo. Big Bang Theory star Johnny Galecki has also recently joined the series as an executive producer.
The Squad revolves around “a new group of friends (and sometimes enemies) who find companionship and common ground in their mutual love of esports. The potential series explores what it means to finally find ‘your tribe’ after years of feeling like an outsider.”
This sounds like it could be a fun series project and one that could find a lot of success if handled right. The esports community is huge! There is such a massive market for a show like this, and as long as they handle the community right and deliver a solid story, script, and characters, it should succeed. We’ll just have to wait and see how this turns out, but I’ll be looking forward to it.
