BIG HERO 6: THE SERIES Gets Release Date on Disney Channel

I love Big Hero 6. It was an incredible movie. Then I heard they were making Big Hero 6: The Series and I felt an odd combination of joy and fear. I loved the movie so much; I was excited for the story to be continued, but at the same time, I know that a lot of the TV shows typically aren’t as good. That being said, a lot of the original voice actors are reprising their roles, which gives me hope. Maya Rudolph (Aunt Cass), Jamie Chung (GoGo), Scott Adsit (Baymax), Alan Tudyk (Alistair Krei), Ryan Potter (Hiro), Genesis Rodriguez (Honey Lemon), David Shaughnessy (Heathcliff), and Stan Lee (Fred’s Dad) are all returning! I am sad that Damon Wayans Jr. and T.J. Miller will not be reprising their roles of Wasabi and Fred, but I am sure their replacements will do fine. Wasabi will now be voiced by Khary Payton (Teen Titans, The Lion Guard) and Fred will have the voice of Brooks Wheelan from Saturday Night Live.

The series was originally supposed to be released last fall, but it will now be premiering at 9 a.m. EST on June 9, 2018. It will feature back-to-back episodes Saturday and Sunday with new episodes each subsequent Saturday through September. You’ll be able to watch it on Disney Channel, DisneyNow, and Disney Channel VOD.

As the new kid at San Fransokyo Institute of Technology, Hiro faces daunting academic challenges at the prestigious “nerd school” and the social trials of being the “little man on campus.” Luckily, Hiro has his brains, his ingenuity and his best friend bot to help him find his way. But it’s off campus where things get dangerous. Along with neat freak Wasabi, bubbly mad scientist Honey Lemon, fanboy Fred and no nonsense Go Go, the friends form an unlikely, but awesome super hero team – Big Hero 6. Together they face madness and mayhem as a colorful array of science-enhanced villains threaten San Fransokyo.
