BIKER MICE FROM MARS Are Back in Action in First Look at the New Animated Series
Throttle, Modo, and Vinnie are getting closer to firing up those engines again. The Biker Mice From Mars comeback has already brought the radical trio back to comic shops and toy shelves, but the piece fans have really been waiting for is the upcoming Netflix animated series.
We still don’t have a premiere date or trailer, but Nacelle has offered a new peek at the production, giving us a look at the Biker Mice in action.
Nacelle CEO Brian Volk-Weiss shared the update after getting hit with plenty of questions about the show at San Diego Comic-Con. He posted several images from the digital animation stand featuring Throttle, Modo, and Vinnie blasting off a ramp before landing and continuing their ride.
The sequence has the kind of energy you’d expect from an opening title sequence for Biker Mice From Mars, with the three heroes tearing through the action together. Another image shows a character who appears to be having a considerably worse day, and judging from what’s happening around him, his problems might only be getting started.
It’s a small look at the series, but after waiting for a substantial update on the animated project, it’s cool to finally see signs of the show taking shape.
There are still plenty of questions surrounding the new Biker Mice From Mars, but we do know Nacelle is leaning much closer to the original animated series than the later reboot. That means longtime fans can expect the return of plenty of familiar faces, including Throttle, Modo, Vinnie, Charlene, Limburger, Dr. Karbunkle, Greasepit, and more.
The expanding Biker Mice From Mars universe has also introduced some new characters who could shake things up when the mice return to television.
One of the most interesting additions is Scorch, a mysterious female Martian rider introduced in Oni Press’ Biker Mice From Mars comic series. She made one hell of a first impression by taking down the entire team with the help of her torch-powered sledgehammer.
Scorch’s story is about to get even bigger with Scorch #1, a solo comic that will dig into her origins and reveal more about her connection to the Biker Mice. The issue comes from writer Matt Hotson and artist Ken Marion and is scheduled to arrive August 12th.
Exactly how the Netflix series will handle Scorch remains unknown. The show could continue events established in the comics, or it could bring her origin directly into the animated story and introduce her to viewers from scratch. Either way, she’s expected to have a significant role in this new era of the franchise.
There’s actually quite a bit happening in the world of Biker Mice From Mars right now. Nacelle’s toyline is already rolling out new figures and motorcycles, while Oni Press continues building out the comic book side of the universe.
Getting the animated series onto Netflix would complete the comeback and put these characters in front of a much larger audience again.
For anyone who grew up watching three motorcycle-riding Martian mice battle Limburger and his goons, seeing Throttle, Modo, and Vinnie back in motion is pretty damn fun.
The new Biker Mice From Mars animated series is still headed to Netflix, and hopefully these production images are a sign that something more substantial isn’t too far away. A trailer before the end of the year would certainly be a nice way to get those engines roaring.
After all, toys and comics are great, but the Biker Mice belong on a screen, motorcycles screaming, villains getting wrecked, and all.
