Bill Murray and Dan Aykroyd Have Reportedly Joined ZOMBIELAND 2
Some interesting casting news has surfaced regarding director Ruben Fleischer’s Zombieland 2. According to GWW, Ghostbusters stars Dan Aykroyd and Bill Murray have joined the cast of Zombieland 2. They also report that the full title of the film is Zombieland 2: Double Tap.
There are no details on how they will fit into the story, but the report says that they will be “playing fictional versions of themselves.” This is interesting because Bill Murray already did that in the first film, and he was hilariously killed off. So,it will be interesting to see how these actors will be utilized in the sequel.
If this news is true, the Murray and Aykroyd will join the previously cast Jesse Eisenberg, Woody Harrelson, Emma Stone, Abigail Breslin, and newcomer Zoey Deutch (Why Him, Set It Up, Before I Fall).
The new movie will once again put the focus on comic mayhem, taking the quartet from the White House to the American heartland as they face off against new kinds of zombies that have evolved since the first movie, as well as some new human survivors. But, most of all, according to the studio, they have to face the growing pains of their own snarky, makeshift family.
There are some other details regarding the film and the characters that you can read up on here. Columbia Pictures president Sanford Panitch said in a previous statement:
"This is one of those projects that fans have wanted to see happen for a long time – and no one wanted to see it happen more than Emma, Woody, Jesse, and Abigail. These are some of the most in-demand actors and I think they are making this movie because they love these characters. We are thrilled Ruben was willing to come back to direct the sequel, as his work on Venom has been truly amazing."
Zombieland 2 was written by Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese and is scheduled to hit theaters on October 11th, 2019.
