BILL & TED 3 Title Revealed along with Some Fun New Story Details

Bill & Ted 3 has been slowly inching forward over the past ten years. There's a script that was written by Ed Solomon that everyone seems keen on doing including Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter. Dean Parisot (Galaxy Quest) is attached to direct the film and today we've learned what the title of the film is and also some plot details.

This news comes from Solomon himself in an interview with Digital Spy, so this is all legit. The movie will be called Bill & Ted Face The Music and the story will send the older middle-aged Bill S. Preston, Esq. and Ted “Theodore” Logan back in time to interact with their past selves and George Carlin’s character Rufus, "using footage from 1989’s Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure." Solomon went on to reveal:

"They return to that scene at the Circle K when Bill and Ted first meet themselves, only now they're watching their younger selves and looking at the exuberance and joy that they had at that time in their lives. And they see Rufus, they see George Carlin..."

I do love the fact that they found a way to include George Carlin in the movie. It really wouldn't be the same without him. I love this initial concept, though, and I think fans of the original two films will as well.

Unfortunately, the film has yet to receive a greenlight. What's holding it back? You ask. Well, apparently the studios don’t want a sequel with an older Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter. Hollywood wants a reboot with younger actors, which is ridiculous! But, it's the same old story. These studio executives obviously still don't understand the fans and what they want.

Rebooting Bill & Ted would be a huge mistake and would be a more risky move than making another sequel because most reboots end up being bad. They’re also having a hard time convincing financiers to invest because they aren't convinced a sequel would be a hit “since the original movie 'wasn't released [widely] internationally and didn’t have a giant release in the States.'"

That kind of surprises me because Keanu Reeves is a very marketable actor both in the states and overseas. If I had the money I'd invest in this movie in a heartbeat! Hopefully someone steps up to the plate and helps push this movie into production.
