Billy Crystal’s 1997 Academy Award opening is easily one of my all-time favorites! I miss watching Crystal host the Oscars! He was just so damn good and so freakin’ funny!
In this opening sequence of the 69th Academy Awards, Crystal appeared in a montage of clips of the five films that were nominated for best picture. That year, the movies were Jerry Maguire, Shine, The English Patient, Secrets and Lies, and Fargo. He’s also inserted into films like Star Wars and North By Northwest.
This is a great video to revisit, and if you’ve never seen it before, you’re in for a real treat!
