BIRD BOX BARCELONA Gets an Announcement Trailer and July Premiere Date

Netflix has released an announcement trailer for Bird Box Barcelona, which is a film set in the same world as the Sandra Bullock post-apocalyptic thriller, Bird Box. The first film was a huge hit for Netflix, and it told the story of people trying to survive a world overrun by horrifying never-seen creatures that turn people crazy if they look at them. To survive, people are forced to wear blindfolds.

In Bird Box Barcelona, "After a mysterious force decimates the world's population by causing all who see it to take their lives, Sebastian and his young daughter Anna must navigate their own journey of survival through the desolate streets of Barcelona. But as they form an uneasy alliance with other survivors and make their way toward a safe haven, a threat more sinister than the unseen creatures grows."

Producer Dylan Clark said in a statement: “Our world has never been more interconnected. To explore the phenomenon that is Bird Box with David and Alex Pastor following people surviving in Barcelona is a timely opportunity to not only entertain but also show how dependent we all are to each other.”

These films are based on the novel by Josh Malerman, and this next film was written and directed by Alex and David Pastor (The Occupant, The Head) and the cast features Mario Casas, Georgina Campbell, Diego Calva, Alejandra Howard, Naila Schuberth, Patrick Criado, Celia Freijeiro with Lola Dueñas, Gonzalo de Castro, Michelle Jenner and Leonardo Sbaraglia.

It was also announced that Bird Box Barcelona will be released on Netflix on July 14th.
