BIRDS OF PREY - Harley Quinn Will Have a New Look, a Diverse Cast, and Barbara Gordon

We've got some new information to share with you regarding DC Entertainment's Birds of Prey film. This new info tells us that Harley Quinn will be getting a new look, there will be a diverse cast, and the characters who are being considered for the film, which includes Barbara Gordon.

During a recent interview with Yahoo Movies, Margot Robbie talked a little bit about the movie and was asked if Harley Quinn would be getting a new costume. She replied with
"Oh yeah! Yeah, yeah, yeah," and when asked if she could shed some light on her new look, she said:

"No, I can’t. And honestly, [it’s] because the costumes haven’t been designed yet, but yes she’ll have new looks. There will be new Halloween costumes out there, one day."

It'll be interesting to see what direction that they end up taking the character and her look in the upcoming film. I love Robbie in the role of Harley Quinn, so it's exciting that she will get to continue playing the character in future DC films.

The other characters in the film were also brought up. Most of them have been portrayed as white women in the comics, but Robbie says that in the film, those characters will be made up of diverse actresses of different ethnicities:

"Yep, yes exactly, real life isn't so one specific images. We've got to reflect that onscreen."

I think that's something that many fans expected to see happen. As for the characters that will be featured in the film, there are several of them being considered. One of those characters will be Barbara Gordon. I know we've heard that Batgirl won't be in the film, but that doesn't mean Barbara Gordon won't show up. The news comes from Hollywood insider Umberto Gonzalez. Here's how that reveal came about:

As for the other characters being considered, we have Catwoman, Poison Ivy, Black Canary, Huntress, Hawkgirl, Power Girl, and Vixen.

The movie is being developed by Robbie and director Cathy Yan and writer Christina Hodson (Bumblebee). It's being developed as an R-rated film that Robbie previously described as a "girl gang film". She explained;

"I pitched the idea of an R-rated girl gang film including Harley, because I was like, ‘Harley needs friends.’ Harley loves interacting with people, so don’t ever make her do a standalone film. She’s got to be with other people, it should be a girl gang. I wasn’t seeing enough girl gangs on screen, especially in the action space. So that was always a big part of it."

There are no details on the story, but Birds of Prey is coming together. What do you think about Harley Quinn getting a new look, the diverse cast, and the characters that are being considered?
