BLACK ADAM Producer Says Fighting Superman Is Not a One-Off Storyline, But a New "Long Form of Storytelling"
Dwayne Johnson has not been shy about hyping up his latest movie, Black Adam. The action star has been trying to get this movie made for years, and he couldn’t be more stoked that it has finally come to fruition. One aspect of the story that Johnson has not been shy about is his hope to reintroduce Henry Cavill as Superman so that Black Adam can go up against him.
Dwayne Johnson told CinemaBlend earlier this month that “the whole point” of bringing Black Adam to the big screen in his own standalone movie is so that one day he can make a Black Adam vs. Superman movie. While we don’t know for sure that this reintroduction will happen in this movie, fans are assuming we will at least see a post-credits scene featuring Cavill’s Man of Steel.
Regardless of when that will all go down, the film’s producer Hiram Garcia recently explained to CinemaBlend that a Superman vs. Black Adam fight won’t just be defined by just a “one-off” movie. “It’s never been about a one off or just about a fight,” said Garcia, who has been Dwayne Johnson’s longtime producing partner on films such as Jumanji, Hobbs & Shaw, and more. He went on to add:
“No, it’s about so much more than that. We really want to craft a long-form of storytelling and show that these two characters exist in the same universe and are going to have to deal with each other often, either on the same or opposite sides. Hopefully they’re going to clash at some point, but it’s not just about a ‘one fight’ situation. That was never our dream. That does not reward the fans. Fans want to feel a journey between these guys knowing that these guys exist in the same universe.”
It’s pretty exciting to hear what they’re building for the characters Black Adam and Superman. And we don’t have long to wait to find out if it’s beginning now. If you haven’t seen Black Adam yet, what are you waiting for?
