BLACK PANTHER Director Ryan Coogler Set to Produce SPACE JAM 2

Space Jam 2 continues to move forward with the addition of Black Panther director Ryan Coogler as a producer on the long-awaited film. Coogler is partnering up with LeBron James, who is also a producer in the film and is also going to star in it.

It was also announced that Terence Nance, creator of HBO’s Random Acts of Flyness and director of the experimental film The Oversimplification of Her Beauty, will direct. Production on the Warner Bros. film is tentatively slated for 2019, during the NBA offseason.

After the success of Black Panther, Coogler is one of the most sought after talents in Hollywood and his name being attached to a film like Space Jam 2 is a big deal. He will definitely play a big role in helping steer the sequel in the right direction.

When talking about Coogler’s involvement with the film, James said in a statement, “I loved his vision. So for Ryan to be able to bring that to kids, it’s amazing.” He went on to say”

“The Space Jam collaboration is so much more than just me and the Looney Tunes getting together and doing this movie. It's so much bigger. I'd just love for kids to understand how empowered they can feel and how empowered they can be if they don't just give up on their dreams. And I think Ryan did that for a lot of people.”

I loved the original Space Jam film when I was growing up and it’s great to see that this sequel is still moving forward and that it’s putting together a talented team of individuals.

What do you think about Coogler jumping on board to help develop Space Jam 2?
