BLACK PANTHER Has Officially Passed The Billion Dollar Mark

Black Panther has officially grossed over $1 billion at the box office after its fourth straight week at number one. The film finished ahead of A Wrinkle In Time, which The Grapevine reported was the first time the top two films in America for the week were filmed by black directors. The billion dollar take officially makes Black Panther the second highest grossing superhero film in North American box offices, and it's looking more and more likely the film will overtake The Avengers for the top spot. 

I'm happy for the film and hope it'll reinvigorate Marvel's interest in telling refreshing stories. In a world where only the die-hards are beginning to turn out for superhero features, Black Panther was a film that tapped the mainstream and pulled in way more than just the average comic book film loving movie-goer. Let's hope they can make it happen yet again!
