An interesting rumor has surfaced regarding Marvel’s Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. It was previously reported by Fandomwire that the story for the sequel would include a conflict between Wakanda and Atlantis. That led fans to speculate that Namor the Sub-Mariner could make an appearance.

Well, now The Illuminerdi has learned from their sources that Namor will be in the movie and that he will be played by Narcos actor Tenoch Huerta. They are also reporting that Marvel is looking to cast two other actors to play characters who are important characters in Namor and Atlantean lore. Those characters are described as “Mayan warriors” and they include Zyanya, which is a codename for Namora, Namor’s cousin. The other is Cadmael, which is a codename for Attuma, an Atlantean warlord.

It is only a matter of time before Namor makes his big MCU debut. There’s no confirmation that this is actually going to happen in the Black Panther sequel, but it could. After all, Namor and Atlantis have a long history with Wakanda and T’Challa in the comics. The two kingdoms are known for warring against each other. So, it would make sense if Namor made his big debut in the film.

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is being directed by Ryan Coogler, and Huerta joins a cast that includes Letitia Wright, Lupita Nyong’o, Winston Duke, and Angela Bassett who will all return for the new film.

There is a lot that we don’t know about the upcoming Black Panther movie, or how they will handle the Black Panther character without Chadwick Boseman, who tragically passed away. Marvel Studios, Kevin Feige, Coogler and the rest of the creative team have figured out a plan, though. We just need to wait and see what that plan is.

The movie is set to be released on July 8th, 2022.
