BLACK WIDOW Set Photos Reveal William Hurt's General "Thunderbolt" Ross Will Be in the Movie
Some new photos have surfaced from the set of Marvel’s Black Widow, and they reveal that William Hurt has returned to reprise his role as General "Thunderbolt" Ross. The character was introduced in The Incredible Hulk and then later returned for Captain America: Civil War, which ended with Tony Stark warning Natasha Romanoff (Scarlett Johansson) that Ross would be coming after her. He also showed up in Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame.
It would make sense to see Ross in the movie, but we don’t know how big of a role he’ll play in the story. One interesting theory going around is that the character will show up in a post-credits scene which could see him recruit Yelena Belova (Florence Pugh) to the Thunderbolts. There have been rumors that Marvel is planning a Thunderbolts project for awhile.
While that would be cool, it’s more likely that he will show up as a way to address Natasha's actions from Civil War. Just in case you don’t remember, she betrayed the Sokovia Accords so that she could help Captain America escape to do what he needed to do.
Black Widow is being directed by Cate Shortland (Lore) from a script by Jac Schaeffer (The Hustle), and it will be released in theaters on May 1st, 2020.
