BLADE RUNNER 2099 Adds Nine New Actors to The Cast
Nine new actors have joined Michelle Yeoh (Star Trek: Discovery) and Hunter Schafer (Euphoria) in Prime Video’s upcoming sci-fi noir series Blade Runner 2099.
The new cast members include Dimitri Abold (The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes) and Lewis Gribben (Somewhere Boy), who will appear as series regulars.
They will be joined by Katelyn Rose Downey (The Nun II), Daniel Rigby (Renegade Nell), Johnny Harris (A Gentleman In Moscow), Amy Lennox (Only Child), Sheila Atim (The Woman King), and Matthew Needham (House of the Dragon), who have been cast in recurring guest star roles.
While there are no story details to share, we know from the title that the story will be set 50 years after the sequel, which was set 30 years after the original. It’s going to be interesting to see what this series ends up being.
Ridley Scott is producing the project and he will also reportedly direct some episodes of the show. Amazon Studios also hired director Jeremy Podeswa (Station 11, Game of Thrones) to helm the pilot episode.
Silka Luisa (Shining Girls) is set to serve as writer, showrunner, and executive producer. Michael Green, who wrote the film Blade Runner 2049, will serve as a non-writing executive producer, along with Alcon Entertainment co-founders Andrew Kosove and Broderick Johnson.
Other producers include Alcon’s head of television Ben Roberts, David W. Zucker and Clayton Krueger from Scott Free Productions, Cynthia Yorkin, Frank Giustra, and Isa Dick Hackett. Tom Spezialy are part of the writer’s room and also will serve as an executive producer.
