BLINDSPOTTING Star Daveed Diggs is in Talks To Join Disney's THE LITTLE MERMAID

Daveed Diggs (Hamilton, Blindspotting) is currently in talks to join Disney’s live-action adaptation of The Little Mermaid. If he takes the part, he will end up voicing the role of Sebastian, who is the Jamaican crab advisor to King Triton who watches over his daughter, Ariel.

If things work out and he’s cast, he will join the previously cast Halle Bailey as Ariel, Melissa McCarthy as Ursula, Awkwafina as Scuttle, and Jacob Tremblay as Flounder. There’s also Javier Bardem, who is looking to possibly take on the role of King Triton. As for Prince Eric, Cameron Cuffe and Jonah Hauer-King have both screen-tested for the role.

With Lin-Manuel Miranda as a producer on the film, if Diggs is cast it will reunite the two talents who worked together on the Broadway stage production of Hamilton. Rob Marshall is set to direct the film from a screenplay by David Magee.
