BLUE EYE SAMURAI Season 2 Reveals New Look at Mizu as Her Revenge Journey Heads to London

Netflix has offered fans a fresh look at Blue Eye Samurai Season 2, and it looks like Mizu’s brutal path of revenge is about to take her far beyond the borders of Japan.

The acclaimed animated series quickly became one of Netflix’s standout original shows when it debuted, earning praise for its stunning visuals, intense action, and compelling story.

So it wasn’t much of a surprise when the streamer confirmed that a second season was on the way. Now, as production continues, Netflix has shared another tease of what fans can expect when the series returns.

The new image was unveiled during Netflix’s presentation at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival 2026, where the company showcased several upcoming animated projects. Among them was Blue Eye Samurai, giving fans another small preview of the highly anticipated next chapter.

The newly released image highlights Mizu as she prepares to enter unfamiliar territory. Season 1 ended with the warrior setting her sights on a much larger world, and Season 2 is set to follow through on that promise in a major way.

According to series co-creator Amber Noizumi, Mizu’s mission hasn’t changed, even as the setting shifts dramatically.

“Mizu’s journey remains the same. Revenge is her religion. She believes that at least two of the men that she’s out to kill are going to be somewhere in this magical place called London.”

That move to London opens the door to entirely new challenges, but it sounds like fans should also be prepared for a few unexpected surprises from familiar faces.

Noizumi also hinted at some shocking returns, saying, “…there are also going to be maybe some people you thought died, who maybe are still alive.”

Netflix has also released the first official story tease for the new season, offering a clearer picture of where several key characters will find themselves when the series returns:

In season 2, “Mizu’s bloody quest continues in London, where she faces new friends, old foes, and her own demons. In Japan, Akemi and Taigen navigate Edo Castle under a dangerous new Shogun, while Ringo searches for new purpose.”

The series will continue splitting its focus between Mizu’s overseas hunt and the political tensions brewing back in Japan. With Akemi, Taigen, and Ringo all pursuing their own paths, Season 2 appears ready to expand the scope of the story while keeping its core characters firmly in the spotlight.

At the moment, Netflix hasn’t announced an official release date for Blue Eye Samurai Season 2. The project is currently listed as “coming soon,” but there’s no release window attached yet.

The good news is that both Michael Green and Amber Noizumi are returning to guide the series, while animation production will once again be handled by Blue Spirit. Additional crew details and casting announcements have yet to be revealed.

One topic that has frequently come up among fans is whether Blue Eye Samurai should be considered anime. Co-creator Michael Green shared his thoughts on the discussion and his appreciation for the reception from anime audiences.

“We’re anime fans too, and we knew what we were doing wasn’t anime, but we were hoping the anime fans would find it and embrace it as something as a distant cousin, but familiar. So it’s been wonderful.

“I mean, anime fans are so passionate. They love it…like the most rabid sports fan doesn’t love their team like anime fans love anime.”

While fans continue waiting for a release date, the latest look at Mizu is a reminder that Blue Eye Samurai Season 2 is steadily moving forward and I can’t wait to watch it!
