Blumhouse and Peacock Team Up for Creepy "Overnightmare" Experience at the Real THE SHINING Hotel

Blumhouse and Peacock have announced that they have teamed up for a creepy fun "Overnightmare" experience the Stanley Hotel in Estes Park, Colorado, which is the real inspiration for the hotel in Stephen King’s The Shining.

The “Overnightmare” is a weekend-long immersive experience where guests can book rooms based on one of four Blumhouse films: Insidious, The Purge, Happy Death Day, and Freaky.

It’s explained that upon check-in, “guests will be welcomed by a cast of Blumhouse-themed characters, including a ‘conci-scare-ge,’ who will serve as the guide for all of the weekend’s offerings.

“During the day, attendees can grab a drink at the Blumhouse Bar, play the studio’s upcoming video game ‘Fear the Spotlight’ or explore the ‘Teacup’ Room, a lounge based on the new horror thriller series from James Wan’s Atomic Monster and Peacock.”

In the evening, “guests will be pulled from their rooms for personalized, immersive after-dark activities. Inspired by the Blumhouse filmography, each experience will feature interactive characters, narratives and scares.

“Participants can select the experience that best fits their fear threshold. The Freaky and Happy Death Day themed nights will be geared toward general audiences while the Insidious and The Purge activities are reserved only for seasoned horror fans.

That all sounds kind of silly. If I’m at the Stanely Hotel, I’m there for The Shining and Ghosts. Not movie activities.

The event takes place at the Stanley, located in Estes Park, Colo., from October 18th to the 20th. Visitors will also be invited to two screenings during their stay, one of which will be for Teacup.

Tickets and additional details can be found on the Stanley Hotel’s website. The weekend package includes a two-night stay in a double occupancy room in The Lodge, an interactive scare experience, a complimentary welcome dinner, $100 credit toward breakfast or lunch at Brunch & Co., nightly screenings and two drink vouchers for the Blumhouse Bar per guest.
