Blumhouse is Producing a MAGIC 8 BALL Movie with Director Jeff Wadlow
Mattel is teaming up with Blumhouse to produce a live-action Magic 8 Ball movie. Yes… we are going to get a movie about the Magic 8 Ball and it will be directed by Kick-Ass 2, Truth or Dare and Fantasy Island director Jeff Wadlow.
You can expect the film to be a horror thriller, because you know how that Magic 8 Ball likes to conjure demons! Maybe it’ll be cursed or something. I can’t say I’m really all that excited about seeing a Magic 8 Ball movie, but Blumhouse has a solid track record of delivering entertaining horror thrillers. Some of them are films I initially wasn’t interested in that ended up being really good! So, who knows, maybe this Magic 8 Ball movie will surprise me.
There aren’t any story details, but Robbie Brenner of Mattel Films said:
“Since the 1950s, Magic 8 Ball has inspired imagination, suspense and intrigue across generations. This iconic toy has a built-in connection with fans and untapped potential for storytelling. There are no partners better suited to tell the Magic 8 Ball story in collaboration with Mattel Films than Jeff Wadlow and Blumhouse Productions, whose unique approach to the thriller genre has captivated audiences worldwide and has gained widespread accolades.”
Blumhouse founder Jason Blum added:
“As fans of Mattel and their iconic brands, we’re looking forward to bringing Magic 8 Ball, one of their most celebrated toys, to life, and playing against expectations in doing so. We look forward to partnering with Mattel Films to put this project on the fast track to the big screen and create a memorable experience for moviegoers.”
Wadlow will also write the script with his collaborators, Jillian Jacobs and Chris Roach. What do you all think about Blumhouse making a Magic 8 Ball movie with Wadlow?
