Blumhouse Is Set To Produce 8 New Thrillers for Amazon
Amazon has made a deal with Blumhouse to produce eight new films. All we know about these films is that they are going to be thrillers and they will be helmed by diverse filmmakers.
This should, in theory, provide different interpretations of the thriller genre. It’s also said that the projects are “envisioned as elevated thrillers or stories with dark themes.” Jennifer Salke, chief of Amazon Studios, released a statement about the deal stating:
“Jason Blum has built an empire based on fear, shock and all things spine-tingling. He has redefined the horror genre for fans who are hungry for high concept scares. Whether it’s found footage, a socially conscious terror comedy or a pure sinister adrenaline ride, he reinvented and infused the genre with cultural relevancy.”
Blum has also shared:
“We are delighted Amazon is entrusting Blumhouse to deliver its signature thrills and chills to its global audience through this deal. This is a great opportunity for Blumhouse Television to empower underrepresented filmmakers offering a fresh take on the dark genres loved by fans the world over.”
Blumhouse has been on a role with making great horror thrillers recently so it will be interesting to see what kinds of stories they will be telling with these new films.
