Disney has released a new promo teaser and poster for Toy Story 4 showcasing the return of Bo Peep. As you can see, she’s got a new look as she has ditched hoop skirt and her bonnet.

Her new look comes with a new attitude as it’s explained that she is now “an adventure-seeking free spirit who feels right at home on the road.” It’s also explained that she reunites with Woody “under unlikely circumstances,” and they realize that they’ve “grown worlds apart when it comes to life as a toy.”

Toy Story 4 director Josh Cooley had this to say about her character:

“Bo’s taken control of her own destiny. While Woody was watching Andy grow up, Bo gathered dust until she took it upon herself to head out into the world. And when Woody shows up, they can’t believe that they’ve found each other again.”

Annie Potts will return to provide the voice the character, and she says that this version of Bo Peep is “modern, independent, capable, and confident. Bo is written and conceived to be inspiring as she has weathered life’s ups and downs with grace. I aspire to that.”

Bo Peep was absent from Toy Story 3, and it looks like they are doing some interesting things with her character in this next film. I’ll be looking forward to seeing how her story arc plays out. What are your thoughts on this new vision and direction for the character?

Here’s the synopsis for the film:

Woody has always been confident about his place in the world and that his priority is taking care of his kid, whether that’s Andy or Bonnie. But when Bonnie adds a reluctant new toy called “Forky” to her room, a road trip adventure alongside old and new friends will show Woody how big the world can be for a toy.

Toy Story 4 is directed by Josh Cooley and also stars Tim Allen, Tom Hanks, Patricia Arquette, Joan Cusack, Keanu Reeves, Keegan-Michael Key, Jordan Peele, and Tony Hale.

Toy Story 4 is set to be released in theaters on June 21, 2019.
