Bob Odenkirk Says of Joining a Marvel Movie "I Don't Think I'm Built for That World"
Bob Odenkirk went from a writer and background actor to a major TV and movie star, started by his screen-grabbing role in Breaking Bad, which led to AMC giving him his own series with Better Call Saul, and now a brand new show at the cabler titled Lucky Hank. Odenkirk has branched out to play the lead in the action thriller Nobody, and that has caused some to wonder if we could ever see him step into a superhero role. Could we see Odenkirk in the MCU someday? The actor thinks probably not.
As he told The Independent in a recent interview:
“I always like to keep things grounded, relatable and smaller. I don’t think I’m built for that world. I’m built for characters that make you feel like that guy could live next door.”
As far as his Nobody character, Hutch Mansell, goes, Odenkirk even thinks he’s more of a grounded guy that you wouldn’t compare to a superhero. He explained:
“[Hutch] is still a family man, but his relationship to violence is different. He’s changed, but he’s still got a long way to go to find real balance in how he’s living his life.”
The actor feels passionately about the character he’s reprising in an upcoming sequel. He added:
“I care about this more than you could imagine. You’d think it’s the personal story of my life, and not an action-genre movie.”
It’s cool that Odenkirk is so into his characters. His dedication is obviously part of the reason he has done so well with his acting career. Watch him now in Lucky Hank on Sundays on AMC.
