Bob Saget is Trying To Get a DIRTY WORK Sequel Into Development
I wouldn’t say the 1998 comedy Dirty Work is a classic, it’s not a film that a lot of people talk about or reminisce on. But, I enjoyed the film and thought it was funny, and it turns out that Bob Saget, who directed the movie, is trying to make a sequel.
For those of you who need a refresher, the first film follows friends Sam (Artie Lange) and Mitch (Norm Macdonald) who need $50,000 to pay for Sam's dad's heart surgery. “When they're fired for getting revenge on their abusive theater-owner boss, they have a great money-making idea: a revenge-for-hire business. The friends are soon successful, but not all their clients are good customers. When real estate developer Travis Cole (Christopher McDonald) tricks them into vandalizing a building that isn't his, Sam and Mitch concoct their best revenge plan yet.”
Saget recently appeared on The Bill Bert Podcast with Bill Burr and Bert Kreischer. When the two hosts started talking about Norm Macdonald the film Dirty Work came up. That’s when Saget dropped this little bit of information:
“We are talking about possibly trying to do a sequel. And we’ve got some permission from the big cheeses. But we’re not there yet.”
Dirty Work had a $13 million budget but only made $10 at the box office. The movie was also met with a lot of negative reviews, but over time it has gained a loyal cult following. If we do end up seeing a sequel, I imagine it will go to one of the streaming services. Regardless, it would be fun and interesting to see what these characters are up to all these years later.
Watch the trailer for the original film below and let us know if you’d want to see a sequel.
