Bollywood Is Remaking Tom Hank's Classic Film FORREST GUMP

Huh… well this is a piece of movie news that I never thought I’d be reporting on! Tom Hanks and Robert Zemeckis’ classic film Forrest Gump is getting the remake treatment… in Bollywood.

THR is reporting that Indian superstar Aamir Khan is set to star in the movie, which will be called Lal Singh Chadha. The movie will be directed by Advait Chandan who previously helmed Khan’s musical drama in 2017 called Secret Superstar. Khan had this to say in a statement:

“We have bought the rights from Paramount. I have always loved Forrest Gump as a script. It is a wonderful story about this character. It is a feel-good film. It is a film for the whole family.”

I wonder if this remake could actually work. I’m curious about seeing how Bollywood adapts the story for their audience. I’m sure it will do very well in India.

This isn’t the only American film that Bollywood is remaking. They are developing remakes of Jon Favreau’s Chef, and Tom Cruise’s Knight and Day, The Fault in Our Stars, and Keira Knightley and Mark Ruffalo’s musical drama Begin Again.

Khan revealed that Forrest Gump would start shooting in October. What do you all think about Bollywood remaking Forrest Gump?
