BOND 25 Gets a New Screenwriter and a New Release Date
There’s been some changes regarding the upcoming 25th James Bond movie that you might want to know if you haven’t heard already.
MGM has pushed the release date of the film back two months. It was originally supposed to hit theaters on Valentine’s Day in 2020, but now it will be released on Easter, April 8, 2020. The film is said to start shooting in April and according to The Playlist, no one is really happy with the script.
The outlet goes on to report that because of that, a new screenwriters has been hired to work on the script. That screenwriter is Scott Z. Burns, the writer of The Bourne Ultimatum, Contagion, and Steven Soderbergh’s upcoming A-list ensemble film The Laundromat. He will rewrite the ‘Bond 25’ script that was previously worked on by Neal Purvis and Robert Wade.
Apparently the script will be getting a complete overhaul. Burns is one of Hollywood’s go-to script doctors who has done uncredited work on films such as Ocean’s 12, The Bourne Supremacy, Widows and Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.
True Detective’s Cary Joji Fukunaga is directing Bond 25 and it will see the return of Daniel Craig as Bond, Lea Seydoux as psychiatrist Dr Madeleine Swann, Ralph Fiennes as M, Ben Whishaw as Q, and Naomie Harris as Moneypenny.
There are no details regarding the story that this next chapter will tell or how the story arcs for these characters will play out, but I hope that Burns can fix the script and help deliver a great film that the fans will enjoy.
It’ll be interesting to see how this all turns out, but I’m hoping for the best.
