Boston-Set True Crime Thriller Film MISSION HILL in Development with Director Kwame Kwei-Armah
A Boston-set true crime thriller titled Mission Hill is in development at Compelling Pictures with Kwame Kwei-Armah set to direct. If you’re a true crime fan, then this is a project that you might find interesting.
Mission Hill is based on “a real-life homicide case that brought Boston to its knees in 1989. It follows an up-and-coming police officer and a seasoned detective racing against time to bring a suspect in before the city implodes over racial tensions.”
The film is based on an original screenplay written by Michael McGrale (The Following), and producer Peter Craig said of his script, “Mike Mcgrale’s script is among the best I’ve ever read – and I’m so happy to see it now in the hands of a talented director like Kwame.”
The director added: “I’m overjoyed to be working with Compelling Pictures again on this amazing project. I couldn’t put it down when I began to read it. Overjoyed.”
Compelling Pictures principal Denis O’Sullivan said in a statement: “Mission Hill is a passion project for Jeff, Peter, and myself. Kwei-Armah and Compelling Pictures recently collaborated together on the Warhol-Basquiat film The Collaboration, which is based on the play he directed. Actors Paul Bettany and Jeremy Pope were producers on those projects.
